To Spencer:

It would also be nice if you could make yours four LENGTHY paragraphs too...... But if you do that you will STILL not get full credit!! This is supposed to equivalent to five whole PAGES of writing...... Even mine is not that much so everybody needs to do more!

FIX THE WEBSITE

All,

We need to fix all of the problems in the website. Most of the pages are too short and/or need pictures. Each page has to be at least 4 lengthy paragraphs. FIX ASAP.

HOW TO GET TO THE WEBSITE:
For some who have missed this, you may either get to the website by..........

a) Click the link I graciously gave below, or
b)look at your e-mail to find the link where I invited you but
c)you could also go to sites.google.com and log in. It will show up under the list of your site.

FOR REFERENCE! :)
If you want to go anywhere in google, you can type the place you want to go (docs, maps sites etc.) you can just type in the place you wanna go instead of www.

eg. replace www.google.com with sites.google.com
eg. replace www.google.com with docs.google.com
eg. replace www.google.com with www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=YOUR+SEARCH+TERMS+HERE

these will all transport you directly to the google site you wanna go to. And the search thing you can just type it in your address bar.

?????

hey what site do we go to to get to the website

So I finally made the blog and shared it with Mrs. Lathrope, but if you want to edit it (well, you have to but) you need to give me your e-mail addresses so I can share it with you.

Thank you!

This is the link for the site itself. You can view it from here but you won't be able to edit it.

Suggestions/Cautions

It appears that some of you have been gathering a lot of information and lists of useful sites. I want to caution you about appropriate places to go for web information -- use infotrac and elibrary on the Stanley Library site -- you can get photos, reference materials, news articles, etc. Both of these are reliable databases. Some of the sites you have posted are not necessarily sources that have been checked. Remember, sources that end in .org or .edu tend to be more reliable. Check any other sites with me directly before you plan to use them. Make sure that each person in your group is actually conducting RESEARCH -- assigning someone to find pictures is not enough -- each of you needs to WRITE his/her own section of the website.

Info

Does anyone have any websites that have some information on Khmer Rouge?  I don't know about you, but I am still a bit foggy on the whole topic and would like to read some more.

content

How much detail should we put? I think we should keep it broad but give some detail because it is for middle school.

Audiance

I think we should make it to middle schoolers and up including adults

Audience

I agree with Jamie I think a middle school audience would work because we can relate, knowing what is appropriate for students our age.  I also think it would be a good balance between not too childish and not too graphic.

Fun books to read about it (for more info)

Non Fiction-
Alive in the killing fields : surviving the Khmer Rouge
genocide

The stone goddes

Fiction-
southeast Asia : a past regained

Cambodia

Picture Book!
Half spoon of rice : a survival story of the Cambodian genocide

These are all super good books I read in our library

Read them!

Audience

I think our blog should be to middle schoolers because we would know what to put on it

Little bit of info......

The Khmer Rouge was a movement to cleanse Cambodia. Cambodia is located in Asia, somewhere around Indonesia and Thailand. They had a rich culture, however the communists wanted to get rid of them so first people were sent to work camps, where they worked from sun up to sun down creating crops. Similarly to the holocaust, they were also told to dig ditches and were shot into them too. The only way to escape was to go through the jungle to various refugee camps where it was possible to be sent to America, or other places. However, it was very hard to go through the jungle because there were various land mines all over the place. People would move in large groups with "guides" who knew the jungle well and would escort them.

This is just off the top of my head, I haven't done any research yet so this might not be a hundred percent accurate but just so you kinda have a feeling what our topic is.

what is this?

does anyone know what this is about?

Help?

Hey all,

Can someone tell me something about the Khmer Rouge since I don't know anything about it? I won't know where to start my research since I have no clue what it is at all.
